As any owner will know, classic cars are highly sought after and valuable possessions. At RAC we take pride in these cars and the traditions of motoring excellence that they represent. That's why we've designed an insurance package specific to the needs of classic car owners.

What is a classic car?

• Manufactured at least 15 years ago as a standard production model (20 years for some vehicle makes, eg Porsche)
• The annual mileage must not exceed 7,500 miles - discounts are available for lower mileage
• Must be used as a second car

How is the car's value determined?

Policies are issued on an "agreed value basis". This means we agree with you the value of your car when taking out the policy.

What do our policies offer?

• Social, domestic and pleasure use by all drivers (the minimum age for drivers of high performance cars is 35)
• Use for competitions, rallies and trials excluding speed trials, racing or any track event

You can take out two types of cover

Comprehensive cover includes

• Agreed value (where available)
• Free valuation service
• Accidental damage, fire and theft
• Liability to third parties (including passengers)
• Windscreen & window damage - unlimited (£50 excess)
• Personal accident benefits for you and your spouse
• Medical expenses
• Legal charges
• Towing of a trailer or caravan (third party only)
• Club events (excluding speed trials, racing and track events)

Laid up cover includes

• Accidental damage, fire and theft

Additional cover

• Cherished number plate insurance available upon request
