Patrols
Given your passion for cars, it was never likely you'd end up in a standard nine to five. That's why you're a mechanic. Only trouble is, life can get pretty repetitive in a garage. You see the same faces day in, day out. And you can often end up doing the same kinds of jobs day in, day out. It can all start to feel a bit, well ... nine to five.
Become one of our RAC Patrols, and you won't have any such worries. You'll be out and about, enjoying the freedom of the road and meeting new people every day. Every day will be different, and you'll quickly find your skill and ingenuity being stretched. (But you won't be completely on your own. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and technical helpline will see to that.)
Rest assured, the regular heartfelt thanks you'll get from your customers - and the satisfaction you'll get from being part of such a successful team - will be hard to beat. In fact, you'll soon wonder why you stayed in that garage for so long.
Mobile Windscreen Technicians
We want you to help us install, repair or replace damaged windscreens and windows to vehicles of all shapes and sizes. In return, we'll give you the chance to get out of the workshop and onto the open road, as you travel to the customers in your designated area.
You'll need exceptional customer service skills to deal with customers in the front line, providing a sympathetic ear as well as a highly professional fitting service. You should either have one years' fitting experience - or be able to demonstrate a real aptitude for the mechanical processes needed to repair windows. (Perhaps you've worked in an automotive bodyshop, as a Valeter/Finisher or on a car assembly line.) Whatever your background, you'll need to have a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. Finally, you don't mind weekend rotas, or working in the great outdoors.
Flat Bed Recovery Drivers
If a breakdown's serious enough to need a flatbed truck recovery, we can safely assume the people involved aren't having the best of days. Which is why, as one of our Recovery Drivers, you're doing a whole lot more than getting a vehicle onto the back of a lorry.
You'll interact with people, reassure them, get them to their destination, and generally ensure that they enjoy the very best customer experience that they can in the circumstances. Whatever your background, ideally, you'll have an HGV Class 1 or 2 Licence. But more important than this are your Customer Service skills where you're able to deal with people in such a way that ensures they are overwhelmed by the level of service offered by the RAC.
